21. Colorado – 2013

I love Breckenridge, Colorado in the winter time.  It’s not where my daughter first learned to ski (that was Winter Park) but it is where we have spent many of visits and where she learned to snow board.  We had so many laughts, learned about being independent but cautious on the moutain, got oxygen treatments, etc.

When I do go I love staying at the Doubletree by Hilton because it is right across from the lift,  you can pick up your equipment in the lobby and there is a concier service to handle your skis at night.  So much easier than staying in a condo!  Also the outdoor hot tubs on the veranda are wonderful, especially if it starts snowing on you.  For the kiddos they have smores every night around 4 pm.  http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/colorado/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-breckenridge-QKBVRDT/index.html

While in Breckenridge, try taking a ski class.  The pavillian is right across the street and the instructors are wonderful! http://www.breckenridge.com/plan-a-trip/book-ski-and-ride-lessons/lessons-selector.aspx#overview

On one trip we took, we did a snow mobile and then dog sledding trips.  They were a blast and you must try them at least once.  SnowMobile/Dog Sledding – http://www.snowmobilecolorado.com/   Cost is about $100 per person for 2 hr tour on Snow Mobile and Dog Sledding is  $75.00 per person

There are so many wonderful placed to eat, but my favorite is the “lost cajun” because it is tryly authentic Louisiana Food and it has a great story about the owners being dislocated after Hurricane Katrina.
